The best jjimjilbangs in Seoul: 10 we’d actually go back to
Seoul has hundreds of bathhouses. These are the ten jjimjilbangs and kiln saunas we send friends to, from 24-hour hanok-style halls to a tiny spotless kiln where the owners speak English.
01
How we picked
Every place here is one we checked by hand: open, easy to reach by subway, and clear about prices. Entry at a Seoul jjimjilbang is usually about ₩10,000–20,000, a little more at night. Hours and prices change, so check the spot page before you go.
02
Best for a first visit: Sparex Dongdaemun
A 24-hour jjimjilbang under the Goodmorning City mall that feels like wandering into a hanok village. Entry is about ₩14,000, it is right by Dongdaemun History & Culture Park station, and you can shop the night markets before or after.
03
Best mega jjimjilbangs
Club K Seoul in Samseong is bigger than a soccer field (7,900㎡), open 24 hours, with golf, yoga and pilates on top of the baths and heat rooms. About ₩17,000 on weekdays.
Gangbyeon Spa Land by the Han River in Gwangjin is almost as big, open 24 hours, and cheaper: about ₩12,000 by day.
Venuezia Aqua 24 in Gangseo is the biggest of the three, close to Gimpo Airport, handy for a first or last night.
04
Best kiln saunas (hanjeungmak)
Supsok Hanbang Land is one of Seoul’s best-loved charcoal kilns, at the foot of Ansan near Sinchon, and yes, you can grill samgyeopsal there. Open 6:30–22:00, about ₩17,000.
Hongdae 24h Bulgama Sauna sits by Hongik Univ. station exit 4 with a fire kiln, a Finnish banya, a red clay room and an ice room. Open around the clock.
Insadong Hanjeungmak is tiny and spotless, a few steps from Anguk station, and the owners speak fluent English.
05
Best with kids or a group
Parkhabio Water Kingdom in Songpa is a premium jjimjil spa with high ceilings and a waterpark you can look down on. About ₩18,000 on weekdays; closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
Sealala in Mullae is an indoor waterpark-meets-jjimjilbang with a Mediterranean resort theme. Closed Tuesday.
06
Best on a budget: The Park Spaland
A big 24-hour jjimjilbang in Seonyu-dong for about ₩9,000: salt and red clay rooms, a comic book corner and plenty of floor space to nap.
